Concord Music Group contacted ICLA to help with the development of Duane Allman Retrospective Collection by providing fabric and print samples, guitar box construction samples and the various costs for many options, in order to weigh the cost alternatives of those options. The outcome helped Concord Music Group select materials that were very cost effective, yet reflective of Duane Allman’s persona, as an artist.
The resulting Duane Allman Retrospective is comprised of a turned edge box designed to mimic the musician’s actual guitar case. The replica guitar case holds 7 CD’s in CD sleeves, a Duane Allman Retrospective book, a SKYDOG concert sticker and a Duane Allman replica guitar pick.
The guitar case box is fabricated as a 2-piece set-up box with a hinge and collar, printed 4 color process with non-scuff matte lamination and spot gloss UV over grey board. The interior is constructed from die cut grey board wrapped with a gold crushed velvet liner to cover two CD pockets. Each pocket has a ribbon lift to facilitate the removal of the 7 CD’s. Each CD is encased in a translucent sleeve printed 4-color process plus tinted opaque white to create a specific opacity and show-through for each sleeve.
The Duane Allman Retrospective book is smyth sewn and printed 4-color process throughout on smooth uncoated opaque offset paper. The cover is printed 4-color process and non-scuff matte lamination on gloss cover, so the cover matches the box. The SKYDOG sticker is printed with 4 color process UV inks on 4 mil white flexible vinyl and kiss cut die cut to facilitate removal. The guitar pick is made to look like Duane Allman’s actual guitar pick and stamped with his name.
This box set was released as a limited edition and completely sold out in two weeks.
