Epson F-Series Sure Color Dye-Sublimation Print Sample Guide
In January 2015, Epson America requested that ICLA produce a new format Dye-Sublimation Print Sample Guide to support dye-sublimation substrate sales.
Designed as a 6-3/4” x 9” turned edge book with a lay flat cover and concealed wire-o binding, it contains 10 tabbed sections, one for each dye-sub material, and 26 pages of photographs, features, benefits and technical specifications. Each section includes a tipped-on sample of a finished dye-sub print on the specific substrate for that section and a “before” and “after” sample of the dye-sub paper that created the finished dye sub print tipped on to the page below the final dye-sub print.
The final printed dye-sublimation samples for each material were provided by Epson in large rolls. ICLA had to register, cut (the fabric edges were pinked to eliminate fraying) and hand affix all components. Complicated to organize, affix and keep all tip-on’s square to the trim, the book turned out beautifully and the client was exceptionally happy.
Epson America’s Legacy Paper Boxes
As a long time supplier to Epson America, ICLA was invited to help Epson find a cost effective solution to a beautiful 2-piece set-up box, designed by SooHoo Designers, for Epson’s new Legacy line of digital photographic papers. The winning box design was constructed with premium papers, a brushed metallic label, gold foil stamping and a foam protective frame protector to ensure the premium digital papers reach the customer in pristine condition.
The problem was finding solutions to the construction, papers and foam inserts that would maintain the quality and look of the winning design, but enable the client to move forward with the design and stay within their budget for this new line of digital photography papers.
ICLA provided a wide variety of lower cost options for the paper, metallic label, gold foil stamping, box construction and foam insert that reduced the client’s cost to an effective number. Then, with approval from the client, ICLA produced the boxes for their Legacy papers on time and on budget. Epson is exceptionally pleased with the result, having received universal acclaim for the packaging during the Legacy paper’s initial introduction at the WPPI photography convention in Las Vegas.
