Comprised of a 128-page plus cover smyth sewn case bound book, the Venus and Mars Archive Collection includes a wide variety of candid photographs of Paul, Linda, band members and friends in the sections In The Beginning and Wings In Nashville. The Making The Album section includes excellent candid photographs taken at Sea-Saint Studios, New Orleans in 1975.
The Sleeve section provides the background and genesis of the Venus and Mars sleeve along with photographs of a trip to the Mojave Desert to capture a group photograph in a location that is “spacey”, like somewhere out of this world, Mars or Venus. The Songs section includes track sheets for Venus and Mars, Rock Show, Love in Song and many more. The section also contains original poster and ad reproductions for various songs on the album. Lastly, a Lyric section provides the lyrics to all tracks on the album.
The case bound book also contains a 2-CD + 1-DVD built-in wallet in the back of the book to hold a re-mastered album CD, a bonus audio CD and a bonus film DVD, a 16-pp Nashville Diary tipped onto a test page at the spine and 3 translucent sleeves of various ephemera, including lyric sheets, an 8″ x 10″ photograph, a Wings in Concert at Elstree poster and a stage pass for Elstree.
Bound with a unique lay-flat cover that opens away from the spine at the front, the pages are quarter bound with a black spine tape and printed on a cream colored uncoated paper with black edge coloring to complement the black backgrounds throughout and heighten the impact of the iconic pool ball visual on the front cover.
